Worship & Music - Worship Service Volunteers
Acolytes
The Acolytes serve the clergy and congregation during services as crucifers, torchbearers, Gospel bearers and banner bearers. We are an active and growing ministry, and new adult volunteers and youth in grades 5 and up are welcome.
Coordinator Jay Baldwin
Lay Assistants
The Lay Assistants provide three kinds of liturgical leadership: reading the Word of the Lord (the lessons), offering the Prayers of the People (intercessory prayers), and administering the chalice. We have a spiritual grounding, understanding that God has called us to this ministry. There are training sessions offered several times a year, for both newcomers to this ministry and a renewal for those who are experienced.

Ushers
The overall ministry of the ushers is to offer hospitality to those who enter our doors. The Ushers’ job is to help the service run smoothly, enhancing the worship experience of the congregation. This can consist of handing out service bulletins, collecting the offering, guiding the movement of people during Holy Communion and providing assistance as required throughout the service.
Coordinator Tom Johantgen
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild cares for the consecrated elements of the Eucharist. They prepare the place of consecration for services and care for the vessels, linens, vestments and furniture used in the celebration. The Altar Guild is not just a cleaning service, but has a sacred task serving God so that all members of the congregation can be "...fed and refreshed by his flesh and blood, be forgiven their sins, united with one another and strengthend for your service." — Book of Common Prayer
Coordinator Cindy McCallum
Flower Guild
The Flower Guild of St. David’s Church arranges flowers for the altar during our Sunday worship services. Arrangements are done to the glory of God and as memorials for families who request flowers in memory of their loved ones. Flowers are purchased locally or cut them from members gardens. Each member is responsible for three to five Sundays per year. The Committee works together to decorate for Easter and Christmas worship services including making the large Advent wreath and the flower wreaths for the baptismal font. To help, please contact the coordinators below.
Coordinators Pat Carson Lura Wampler
Prayers of the People
Prayers of the People are written weekly for inclusion in the worship service. Training for this ministry is available and newcomers who feel called to this are welcome.
Coordinator Amanda Smoot
Vergers
The vergers assist the clergy with the Sunday liturgy. Their duties include everything from overseeing the service as a whole to the smallest detail. The goal is for every service to be as seamless as possible with everything done "decently and in good order." Under the sponsorship of a clergy person, vergers complete a period of training which lasts for several months. This training satisfies the requirements of the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church U.S.A.
