This is an area to describe the details of the event. Or you could have any information in here really, it just doesn't matter all that much. But the real test of an area like this is how much text it can actually hold. I mean, surely there must be limits. Right? Well if there are we sould probably display a Link Style.

St. David's World Gifts

As part of our Outreach Ministry, World Gifts is an opportunity for the St. David's Episcopal Church parish to share some of our treasures with those in desperate need. Many of you have given financial gifts, both regionally and globally. Here is a way to give a specific gift, one that is known by St. David's Episcopal Church to be greatly needed.

Your gift may be given at any time of the year in your name or to recognize a loved one. World Gifts will acknowledge your gift as you direct us. In many cases, we receive thanks from the receivers of the gifts; for example, a teacher's gratitude for his or her salary, a mother's thanks for support, a child's simple words for allowing him or her to learn, or an organization for providing for a need. When this occurs, we are pleased to pass these messages of appreciation onto you.

The nature of these gifts continues giving to those who have few people interested in them.
Please help us give

  • the gift of hope
  • the gift of knowing that we care for them
  • the gift that helps them survive - especially orphans

Envelopes with further information and forms for making a donation are available in the church office and in the Gift Shop, or you may download the World Gifts Donation Form.

Join us now in making a difference in our world!

World Gifts Guatemala
St. David’s started with two sister parishes in Guatemala:  Santiago de Jerusalén in Chimaltenango and Santa Cruz del Monte Calvario (Holy Cross) in Santa Cruz Balanyá, and we are now in the process of acquiring two more. Padre Miguel Salanic, the minister at Santiago, is also working with a group of people in San Andres Itzapa who want to establish and grow a church. They meet twice a month in San Andres and travel to Chimaltenango twice a month. Padre Tomas Calel, the Rector of Santa Cruz, also oversees the seminarian in charge of San Bartolomé in Chichicastenango.

We are helping our Guatemalan companions in ministry with several programs. Probably the most important responsibility St. David’s has undertaken is to provide assistance with educational costs for a total of 150 children in Chimaltenango and Balanyá. Public school children in Guatemala must pay a small tuition in addition to costs for transportation, books, and other supplies. Second, we have funded building programs in both churches, including the purchase of land in Balanyá and equipment and furniture there, in Chimaltenango, and also in San Andrés. For Balanyá we helped raise money to buy a piece of land where they can grow cash crops and use the proceeds to support the church.

Mission Wish List
We hope to:

  • Increase the amount of aid for education and extend this program to the children in San Andrés and San Bartolomé.
  • Assist in the raising of funds for land purchase, building and equipment for the churches
  • Continue mission trips to give hands-on support

Examples of how your donation will be used are listed below.  All monies will be deposited in and applied to the general operating budget of Guatemala. Thank you for your support.

  • A gift of $7 buys Sunday School materials and snacks per student
  • A gift of $7 buys Vacation Bible School materials and snacks per student
  • A gift of $20 buys Arts and Crafts materials per student

World Gifts Uganda

We sponsor two schools in the central part of Uganda. One is a Primary complex called Trinity Children’s Centre, established in 1986. This school offers education from Nursery to grade 7 and presently has about 1,300 children, 30% of whom are orphans.  The other school is Centenary High School, offering education up to the university entrance level.  Established in 1998, Centenary enrolls 600 students, 10 % of whom are orphans.  Fees are collected as the parents are able to pay, which is sporadic, often leaving teachers without pay and with many unpaid bills. Both schools have a number of students who board.  Through ongoing support, the schools’ founders have built one central Maize Mill and an Assembly Hall at each school, both of which generate some income.  In addition, the dormitories have been enlarged, a daily meal program for all students has been put in place, and the children are receiving much needed medications and vitamins.

Mission Wish List
We hope to:

  • Offset costs for telephone services, Internet fees and special area teacher salaries
  • Offer support for the music program, computers and science equipment
  • Further educate the leaders
  • Continue the feeding program
  • Support the medical needs of students and teachers
  • Offer continued mission trips to give hands-on support
