In September 2009, St. Augustine Academy for Girls (SAA), an after school enrichment program in Norristown, Pa. opened its doors. SAA conducts an afterschool enrichment program for local second and third grade girls, designed to raise self-esteem and confidence by teaching critical life skills.

The mission of SAA is to supplement classroom learning by offering academic support and to offer enrichment through exposure to the arts with a strong emphasis on life skills and a constant focus
on building self esteem.

SAA is staffed by a rotating group of volunteers and a salaried Program Coordinator. Volunteers
from St. David's work Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. during the school year on a small-group basis on numerous activities from tutoring to teaching computer skills.

Our greatest hope is that SAA will make a difference in the lives of these young girls however
great or small. Most important of all the children realize that the few hours spent at SAA belong to them in a place where they are safe and loved.
